Ben’s Half Birthday

Ben turned 26-and-a-half a couple of weeks ago, and because I am a huge nerd, we celebrated his half birthday! I made him a delicious dinner and chocolate cake and gave him some fun presents.

We had baked chiles rellenos from Vegetarian Times (but without the cheese, obvi). So tasty!

I also made some romesco sauce and some saucy black beans. It was such a yummy dinner!

Ben has a huge obsession with coconut water, and he got a big case of it. He should be happy for… a few days.

After dinner, Ben opened the present he had been eyeing for a couple of days. Spoiler alert: it was a trash can. Yep. A trash can. The funny part of this is that I bought it at Target one night, and I knew he was going to be home when I got back. I didn’t want him to know immediately what his gift was, so I decided I should wrap it before going home. So I bought wrapping paper, tape, and scissors at Target and wrapped it up in the back of the hatchback. In the parking lot of Target. In the dark, by myself. It was kind of a sketchy situation, and I just found it hilarious that to top it off, I was gift wrapping a trash can. But anyway. He really was excited to unwrap this trash can.

After presents, we ate the awesome chocolate cake I made. It had no sugar, no gluten, and no dairy! I know how it sounds, but it was seriously AWESOME.

It was a fun, random celebration! I think we both enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see what he does for my half birthday! :)
